EBM+ welcomes volunteer applications from UCL students and from any academic background, but merely with an interest in philosophy, medicine, clinical evidence or health more generally. UCL students volunteer with EBM+ for many reasons, bringing their experience, enthusiasm, dedication and skills with them.
All potential volunteers must complete our application form. Informal interviews are then carried out to ensure you are suitable for the role. Selection procedures for individual volunteers must protect our organisation’s interests and commitments to our funding bodies and associated institutions.
Our volunteer role involves working with young people and so all our volunteers are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting their role in schools at the beginning of January 2018.
The number of volunteers we recruit is somewhat dependent on the number of partner schools involved in the programme. We typically place 2 to 3 volunteers in each school who then work with a group of 10 to 12 school students each week.
